REMOVING AND INSTALLING
TRANSMISSION

Remove exhaust assembly - see Gr. 18.
Remove final drive - see Gr. 33.
Remove propeller shaft - see Gr. 26.
Lift out retainer (4).
Pull out shift rod.
Take off washer (5).

Lower transmission.
Lift spring (1) off of boss (2) on the
case with a screwdriver and swing up.
Pull out shaft bolt.

Installation:
Give shaft bolt a light coat of Molykote
Longterm 2.

Pull off electric leads on the reverse
gear switch.
Take electric leads out of holders.

Remove clutch slave cylinder.
Holder remains connected.

Installation:
Bleeder screw faces down.
Tightening torque = 24 Nm (17 ft. lbs.).

Unscrew transmission on engine.
Unscrew Torx bolts with a Torx socket.
Remove transmission toward rear.

Important! - Installation:
Washers must be used on the version
with Torx bolts to avoid increasing the
breaking-loose torque.

Tightening Torque:
M 8 = 21 Nm (15 ft. lbs.)
M 10 = 47 Nm (34 ft. lbs.)
M 12 = 71 Nm (51 ft. lbs.)

Coat splines and guidepins lightly with
Microlube GL 261* prior to installation
of the transmission.
Check oil level.
