REMOVING AND INSTALLING PROPELLER SHAFT Remove exhaust assembly - see Gr. 18. Remove final drive - see Gr. 33. Support manual transmission and lower it only so far, that shift lever mount (1) can be unscrewed on the axle pipe. Important! The hose between the engine and radiator must remain without tension. Unscrew axle pipe on transmission. Installation: Tightening torque = 42 Nm (30 ft. lbs.). | |
Pull back axle pipe out of the propeller shaft. | |
Unscrew propeller shaft on transmission. | |
Installation: Replace self-locking nuts. Note: Only turn nuts to avold tension in the joint disc. Tightening torque = 64 Nm (46 ft. lbs.). | |
Note: The vibration damper is mounted on the transmission end output flange and is installed on the propeller shaft. By turning it 60° the vibration damper can be taken off over the output flange. | |
Installation: Check center, lubricating with Molykote Longterm 2 if necessary. Replace a damaged center. |
