REMOVING AND INSTALLING FUEL TANK If the fuel tank is full, draw out some of the gasoline through the filler neck with a scavenging pump. Fuel tank size: 55 liters. | |
Unscrew trim panel partially. Unscrew screws (1 ... 4). Lift off cover. | |
Pull off plugs (5 and 6). Disconnect feed pipe (7), return pipe (8) and venting pipe (9). | |
Unscrew nut for fuel level sender and fuel pump assembly with Special Tool 16 1 020 and remove the assembly. Important! Always replace the seal and coupling nut. | |
Draw off remaining gasoline with a scavenging pump. | |
Remove tank supporting clamp (4) and lower the rear axle assembly (33 00). Installation: Attach the tank supporting clamp on the rear axle carrier first. 33 00 000 | |
Remove rear right side panel - see Group 41. Disconnect venting pipe (1) on the filler neck and loosen clamp (2). 41 35 000 | |
Remove hose (3). | |
Unscrew screws (4 ... 6). | |
Lower tank. Disconnect venting pipe (1). Press all pipes out of holders located on the tank. | |
Pull out tank toward the rear and downward. Pull out hose (2) far enough that it can be disconnected. |
