REMOVING AND INSTALLING
POWER STEERING GEAR

Note:
Check toe after installation.

Draw hydraulic fluid out of tank - do not
reuse it.

Unscrew nuts on left and right sides
and press tie rods off of track arm with
Special Tool 32 0 070.

Installation:
Clean journals and bores to remove
grease.
Replace self-locking nuts.
Tightening torque = 36.5 ± 3.5 Nm.

Unscrew pressure pipe.
Plug open connections with dust caps.

Installation:
Replace seals.
Tightening torque
M 14 = 35 Nm
M 16 = 40 Nm

Unscrew bolt.
Push up steering spindle.

Installation:
Bolt must be located in groove of the
steering shaft.
Replace self-locking nut.
Tightening torque = 19 Nm.

Unscrew steering gear on front axle
carrier.

Installation:
Tightening torque = 43 ± 4 Nm.
