BLEEDING COOLING SYSTEM Bleeding is absolutely necessary after refilling the cooling system. Bleeding is also recommended, if coolant is added after the expansion tank had been emptied.
Caution! Danger of scalding! Only unscrew cap from expansion tank when engine is cold. Set heater controls to warm. Fill system and simultaneously unscrew the bleeder screw on the thermostat housing, tightening it again when the escaping coolant is without air bubbles.
Fill expansion tank and screw on cap. Run engine to operating temperature (2500 rpm engine speed).
Check level of coolant in the expansion tank after running engine, correcting if necessary. The mark indicates the full level at 20° C (68° F). Only use specified coolant*. * See Operating Fluids |
