Description of Tandem Brake Master
Cylinder Operation:
Operating the brake pedal moves pistons
(1 and 4) forward. Primary cups (2 and 5)
run past compensating bores (3 and 6).
Now there is equal pressure in
chambers (A and B).

Dual Circuit System:
Chamber (A) is for front left and right.
Chamber (B) is for rear left and right.
Brake pedal travel will be considerably
longer when a brake circuit fails, piston (4)
will be forced into the pressureless
chamber by piston (1) because of the
pressure building up in chamber (A)
and the first brake circuit can be used.
If the first brake circuit fails, piston (1)
in the pressureless chamber (A) is
forced against the spring-loaded cap
(7) and the second brake circuit can be
used fully via chamber (B).
