OVERHAULING REAR FIST
CALIPERS
- Use Repair Kit -

Remove rear fist calipers.
Pry off plastic caps (1).
Unscrew guide bolts (2).

Installaiton:
Only clean guide bolts - do not lubricate
them.
Check guide bolts, replacing if necessary.
Tightening torque = 31 to 35 Nm
(23 to 25 ft. lbs.).

Disassemble fist caliper and take out
brakes pads.

Installation:
Press out brake pad completely prior
to inserting spring (4).

Press off rubber cap and clamping ring.
Place a liner (hard wood, hard felt or
something similar) in the caliper recess
for protection of the piston.
Press out piston with air pressure
applied through the connection bore.

Caution!
This is equal to a force of about 1250 N
(275 lbs= - danger of injury.

Check guide sleeves (5), installing the
repair kit guide sleeve if necessary.

Remove seal carefully with a plastic
needle.
Clean cylinder bores and parts with
alcohol and dry with air pressure.
Inspect cylinder bores, pistons and
flange surfaces thoroughly for damage.
The machining of cylinder bores and
pistons is not approved.

Installation:
Coat all parts lightly with ATE brake
cylinder paste and insert.

First pull rubber cap on the piston.
Do not cant the piston - press it in
with a piece of hard wood.

Pull rubber cap over the edge of the
cylinder bore and secure with a
clamping ring.
Assemble fist caliper.
