CHECKING COOLING
SYSTEM FOR LEAKS

Mount Special Tool 17 0 002 and
17 0 005 on the expansion tank.

Produce 1 bar pressure in the cooling
system with the tester.

Note:
The cooling system does not leak, if
there is no considerable pressure drop
(max. 0.1 bar) after two minutes.

Checking Cooling System Cap:

A: Pressure Relief Valve Test:

Screw cap (1) on Special Tool 17 0 006
and apply air pressure slowly.
Pressure relief valve must open with
about 1.2 ± 0.1 bar pressure.

B. Vacuum Valve Test:

Screw cap on Special Tool 17 0 006
and produce vacuum slowly with
Special Tool 61 6 030.
Vacuum valve will open up to 0.9 bar
absolute pressure (0.1 bar vacuum).
Check gasket.
Lift the vacuum valve slightly and
check for correct seating, replacing
the cap if necessary.
